EDUCATION

Ms. Effron received her B.A. degree from State University of New York at Binghamton in 1998. She earned her J.D. degree from Ohio State University in 2003 and was recognized as a public service fellow for her volunteer work in the community. She is admitted to practice law in Georgia and New Jersey.

EXPERTISE

Ms. Effron concentrates her focus on U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law. Ms. Effron prepares family and employment based adjustment of status applications, naturalization applications, and all types of family and employment-based visa applications. Ms. Effron represents individuals at asylum, NACARA, adjustment of status (through family relationships or employment), and naturalization interviews. She also prepares all types of waiver applications and applications for consular processing. Ms. Effron assists clients in applying for work visas, and has successfully prepared waivers of the 2-year foreign residency requirement for J-1 visa holders. Ms. Effron represents foreign nationals in immigration court to seek asylum, apply for cancellation of removal, or seek other forms of relief before the immigration judge. She also prepares appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals and federal circuit courts, and has prepared writs of mandamus to the federal district court requesting adjudication of applications.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

Ms. Effron is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers' Association and currently serves as the Georgia chapter litigation committee co-chair. She also serves on the board of directors of the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN), and is a member of the council of friends for Refugee Family Services. She participates in volunteer activities including national citizenship day and Scott's Memorial Run to benefit Catholic Charities immigrant children project.

Ms. Effron is currently a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Sandy Springs Bar Association, the Cobb County Bar Association, the Superior Court of Fulton County, the District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the District Court for the District of New Jersey, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also regularly practices before the Executive Office for Immigration Review - this includes immigration courts nationwide and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
